What is Alien?

Alien is the official publication of the Centre of Cultures which is established to promote the relationship between different cultures. Alien is a not-for-profit publication produced entirely by volunteers.

Alien will encourage and allow interchange among people from different cultures with the intention to make each cultures interests and aspirations known, and more importantly, allow a true dialogue, oriented toward the search for common interests that are present in the hearts of different peoples and individuals.

Alien will denounce and struggle against all forms of manifest or covert discrimination, through the development of different kinds of campaigns for improving the present and building a common future; promoting human rights; the free circulation of human beings throughout the planet and the possibility that every one be able to choose the place and conditions in which he or she wants to live.

Alien will disseminate the proposals of Universal Humanism the most general proposals of which are characterised as follows:
considering the human being as the central value, affirming equality of opportunities for all, recognizing diversity and opposing all discrimination, promoting freedom of thought, and struggling against violence in all its forms. At the same time, these proposals come to configure a style of life and a way of relating to others embodying the highest of moral values, which can be expressed in this way: “Treat others as you want them to treat you!”

Alien will establish permanent contact with communities, minorities, associations and people from different cultures with the interest of jointly disseminating and organizing the common activities. We aspire to take contact with the countries of origin of participants in order to disseminate and gather groups of people interested in the study and development of the activities of Universal Humanism.

Who we are

We are optimists who believe in freedom and social progress, fixing our gaze on the future. We are internationalists, aspiring to a universal human nation. We understand the world as a single whole. We seek not a uniform world but a world of multiplicity: diverse in ethnicity, languages and customs; diverse in local and regional autonomy; diverse in ideas and aspirations; diverse in beliefs, whether atheist or religious; diverse in occupations and in creativity.

We search for inspiration in the contributions of many cultures, not only those that today occupy centre stage. Our project is a new world: the creation of a Universal Human Nation.

Who can contribute

Any person of any religion, culture, language or origin that wants to collaborate in this project and that wants to take part in developing communication among different peoples. There are two minimum conditions for participation. The first is that we will not admit the participation of those who foster discrimination or intolerance. The second is that we will not allow the participation of those who use violence as a methodology of action for imposing their concepts or ideals, no matter how elevated those concepts and ideals may be.
